Energy Efficient Homes, Renovations & Additions

Welcome to the home page of the Lanark Design/Build Group. Since 1990 I have been involved in many projects throughout Eastern Ontario ranging from small renovations to large heritage restoration jobs and the construction of new homes.

In the past I have also provided carpenters on a sub-contract basis at various times to several large builders in Ottawa (Phoenix Homes, Tartan Homes, Cardel Homes, Urbandale Construction, Mattamy Homes, Larco Homes, Ashcroft Homes & Tamarack Homes) doing both preparation of homes before occupancy and pre-delivery inspection repairs and also service work after the homes are occupied.

Before starting my business I studied carpentry at Algonquin College in Perth and prior to that was a Plans Examiner for the City of Guelph reviewing plans and issuing building permits for projects under Part 9 of the Ontario Building Code. I am also a graduate of the Landscape Architecture program at the University of Guelph.

I was first trained as an  R2000 builder in 1994 and have  always  kept  informed on energy efficiency, more recently completing the Net Zero &  R2000 Builder training course as well as updating my ICF training.

I have a keen interest in energy efficient building and “green” building technologies and products – used sensibly.

As you can see I have had significant experience with residential building and I am more than familiar with the business of renovating and constructing homes. My business is accredited through the Better Business Bureau, I am a member of the Lanark – Leeds Homebuilders Association (and hence of the Ontario and Canadian associations too), registered with the RenoMark program and I am a licensed Tarion builder.
